These performances will feature the premiere of SANCTUARY MOON, a work for dancers, saxophone, trumpet and percussion with choreography by Michele Brangwen, music by composer and saxophonist Seth Paynter, and video by Yunuen Perez Vertti. 20 gongs of varying shapes and sizes, along with trumpet, saxophone, string bass and percussion, create a mystical environment where dancers and musicians explore the emotions conjured by these ancient sounds on modern ears.

The program will include a revival of A NOTE FROM GUANTÁNAMO, with choreography by Michele Brangwen , music by Brian Nelson, and video by Yunuen Perez Vertti. A NOTE FROM GUANTÀNAMO is a work for three dancers, electronic wind instrument, string bass, and electronics, that explores the capacity of a gift to carry a current of human emotion across impossible boundaries.

Performers are Lindsey McGill, Brook Barnes, Scarlett Barnes and Michele Brangwen, dancers; Tim Hagans, trumpet & percussion; Seth Paynter, saxophone, electronic wind instrument & percussion; Thomas Helton, string bass & percussion.

Performances are on July 26 at 8 p.m. & 27 at 7 p.m. at Barnevelder Theater, located at 2201 Preston @ Hutchins (across Hwy 59 from Minute Maid Park). Directions available at KUHF Radio Announcer Elaine Kennedy will introduce the performance on Sunday July 27.

Tickets are $18 general Admission and $12 Students and seniors and can be purchased at the door. We are working to restore our online tickets sales. Please check back for advance purchase tickets.
